Hi,
in the PSoC 4100S Data sheet, we can see from the pin list that VSSD is connected to ''DN'' for 40-pin QFN chips https://www.cypress.com/file/230626/download.
I cannot find any reference to DN regarding to TQFP packages, in the document or anywhere else. Does it refer to the thermal pad? There is no DN pin in the document for 32-pin QFN chips though, so I find this confusing.
Thanks!

PSoC4100S 40QFN device don't have the VSSD pin, it display as "DN", 32 QFN device connect the VSSD pin to Ground.

That brings a few questions:
1. Is the thermal pad connected to something in the 40-pin chips? Or is it just floating?
2. So DN just means that the pin is not there? What is the difference between leaving a blank space in the table, as it is the case for all the other missing pins in the table

I wonder if I can connect the thermal pad to VSSD if is not already connected to it?

yes, you can connect the thermal pad to VSSD. 40 pin QFN package device don't have the pin which mark as DN.
