Response: The PCI-DP local bus allows bursting controlled by the BLAST# signal.
The PCI-DP does support burst read/writes on the local bus (i.e. multiple data phases). The local bus signal BLAST# is a configurable signal which indicates when the last data phase of a burst is occurring.
A general description of the PCI-DP local bus signaling can be found in the datasheet.
As for whether a specific processor like the MPC860 can perform burst operations, you will have to refer to the processor vendor's webpage.
