Getting Started
---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are unfamiliar with WICED Studio, please refer to the WICED Studio
Quick Start Guide for your WICED Platform under the Eclipse IDE 'Project Explorer',
located here: <WICED Platform>/doc/WICED-XX-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf
For example: 20706-A2_Bluetooth/doc/WICED-BT-SDK-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf
The WICED Studio Quick Start Guide documents the process to setup a computer for
use with the WICED Studio IDE and WICED Evaluation Board.

The currently active project, including associated support files and make
targets specific to each platfrom, may be switched using the "WICED Platform"
drop down menu of the Ecliipse IDE.

Please see the <WICED Platform>/README.txt for each WICED Platform to get detailed
descriptions for each platform.

WICED Studio includes lots of sample applications in the <WICED Platform>/apps
directory. See the <WICED Platform>/apps/README.txt for more detailed
descriptions of the apps.

Tools
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The GNU ARM toolchain is from Yagarto, http://yagarto.de

WICED Studio also supports ARM RealView 4.1 and above compiler toolchain:
http://www.arm.com

The standard WICED Evaluation board provides single USB-serial port for programming.

The debug interface is ARM Serial Wire Debug (SWD) and shares pins with download
serial lines TXd (SWDCLK) and RXd (SWDIO).

Building, programming and debugging of applications is achieved using either a
command line interface or the WICED Studio IDE as described in the Quick Start Guide.

WICED Technical Support
---------------------------------------------------------------------
WICED support is available on the Cypress forum at
https://community.cypress.com/welcome
Access to the WICED forum is restricted to bona-fide WICED customers
only.

Cypress provides customer access to a wide range of additional
information, including technical documentation, schematic diagrams,
product bill of materials, PCB layout information, and software
updates. Please contact your Cypress Sales or Engineering support
representative or Cypress support at http://www.cypress.com/support.

Is there a document anywhere that lists the differences between 3.7 and 4.0?

Bugs fixed (memory leaks and other user reported problems)

Features added - what's new and improved

Features removed (LWIP, etc)

User supplied workarounds that are no longer needed

Reasons why 4.0 should be used rather than sticking with an older version

What still needs to be fixed that works in older versions

etc

Also what from 4.0 will be included in the next release of 3.X

Is this on purpose that in above changelog it is not mentioned that FreeRTOS + LwIP is not supported anymore ? Is there any plan to bring these back into SDK ?

Unfortunately, there are no plans currently to re-include FreeRTOS and LwIP in future releases of WICED Studio.

Is this because there's now a nice neat API between WICED (or WWD) and the IP stack, so that customers can easily slot in one of their choosing? We're currently using LwIP, but would like to move to a tick-less stack at some point. In the past the barrier to this (and to slotting in an RTOS of our choosing) was all the BESL stuff supplied as binary-only and compiled against specific RTOS/stack headers. If code is to be supplied as binary-only, compiling it against an abstraction layer would ensure that it remained useful to all your customers.

Is this the new WICED SMART platform is should we stay on version 2 for BCM20737X?

WICED Smart is a separate IDE and will remain as such for the foreseeable future.

WICED Studio will support new Bluetooth only products like the BCM207X9 ELF family and the BCM20706 SmartReady, but I will not publish the new WICED Studio package to the Bluetooth forums until I am sure there is HW in the broad market that any customer can buy from our distributors and use for development. I think it would confuse people now if I included it here on the Bluetooth side.

Is there an overview of the New Wi-Fi Connection Manager API?

Is NetX / ThreadX / Duo supported?

Is the STM32F411 supported?

Did I read correctly that now the SWD is supported in addition to OpenOCD JTAG?

I didn't find separate SDK download for 4.0.1 version, only one that has Wiced Studio also.

Will there be such download ?

WICED Studio is here and represents the 4.0.1 label: WICED Wi-Fi Documents & Downloads

pastedImage_1.png

4.1 will be released soon.

I meant download like WICED SDK 3.7.0-7 .7z Source files for 4.0.1 version ?

Unfortunately, with the advent of WICED Studio, source files are no longer being included. If you search the forum, you will find how other users have worked around this change by using the OSX release. However, we are not officially supporting the workaround.

I think you really need to provide a standard method or document to tell people how to get the source files.

The installer is not good for people using source code management tools.

I also have problem to get the raw source code in Linux because the install script delete the source code zip file after install complete.
