    Replacing STD 5V SRAM with 3,6V FM28V100 ?

    MiKr_4700096

      Hello community,

is there any Chance to replace a 5V SRAM 1to1 with the FM28V100 without the levelshifting things?

If i will reduce the circuit Voltage for the FRAM to 4V (ZDIODE ?) ?

In the Datasheets Maximum Ratings is stated as follows:

VDD relative toVSS -1V to 4.5V

and Input Voltage -1V to 4.5V and Vin<VDD+1V

Thank you in Advance for your answers.

      Michael

          Hello,

The operating voltage range for the device FM28V100 is 2V to 3.6V. We cannot guarantee any of the datasheet specs if operated at a voltage above 3.6V or below 2V. So, we do not recommend to operate our device FM28V100 at 4V.

Please provide more details about your requirement. We can suggest a suitable part for your application.

          Thanks and Regards,

          Sudheesh

            Hello Sudheesh,

            thanks for your Feedback.

I know what you are talking about…..

But the made datasheet statement "SRAM compatible" is not valid for simple old 5V microprocessor circuits

where are millions left in the world.

pin compatibility to old SRAM's is given.

            In some cases it is a Memory expansion Card with 4 x TC5517AFL IC's (4 x 2kx8)

I want to substitute the parallel SRAMs to a amount of x times the capacity an the FRAM nonvolatile feature.

And so no batterie cirquit is needed on top.

I know the smaller FRAM IC's but i want only one 1-Mbit (128K × 8) IC at least because of the needed PCB room.

So i want rise up the capacity to 16x the Memory....

            best regards

              Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not have 1Mbit parallel FRAM device with operating voltage 5V. Is it possible for you to use a higher density nvSRAM device in your application?

If yes, please check our device CY14E116N-Z30XIT (https://www.cypress.com/file/46601/download). It is a 16Mbit parallel nvSRAM device supporting operating voltage of 5V. You have to use an external capacitor to use our nvSRAMs. Please review the datasheet and let us know, if you need any clarifications.

              Thanks and Regards,

                Hello Sudheesh,

                Tanks for the Suggestion.

In this direction i think the CY14E101L(A) would have been the right one.

But it (or better the E variants of this memory line) is obsolet...… ?

The CY14E116N is much to big and the price for using only a tiny part of the whole Memory is much to high.

I also think i have to find a better/easier solution.

If it have to use a Batterie for backup it is like it is.

It is even easy to develop and the parts in sum are

                also much cheaper.

                too bad ...

Hi-Tech Year 2020 an no simple solution for old Stuff from 1980.

If there is a new idea please write to me again.

                Thank you for your efforts

                Best regards

                Michael

                  Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not have a 1 Mbit FRAM or nvSRAM with operating voltage 5V. If you can use devices with density less than 1Mbit, please check below parts.

                  1. CY14E256LA: https://www.cypress.com/file/44406/download (256Kbit nvSRAM)

                  2. FM1808B: https://www.cypress.com/file/136446/download (256Kbit FRAM)
