Massive and persistent instability after Creator 4.3 / programmer update

i recently updated to Creator 4.3 from 4.2 and the programmer to the latest version. WIN10 16GB RAM. Before that I had only the common, mild issues such as: Creator from time to time closes suddenly and with no reason.

First Creator and programmer could not establish a connection to the target at all or even compiling did not start.

Then creator 4.3/Programmer/4.2 hanged at CyPPDeviceIOPlugin and did not start at all.

Many reinstallations with Registry cleanup etc later I still have the problem that creator (downgraded to 4.2 now) sometimes takes quite a while to start (CyPPDeviceIOPlugin again), that programmer/creator do not find the target at all or it takes very long.

Connection loss during flashing/debugging and nonsense error messages such as "KitProg version Expecting 2.20, but found 2.21. Please use PSoC Programmer GUI to upgrade firmware."

I had no hardware changes and the USB port never had nay problems with PSoC. I also tried different ports and cables. Same result.

What can I do to get the old stability back?

Reinstalling Windows definitely is no option!

        • 1. Re: Massive and persistent instability after Creator 4.3 update

I just deleted the KitProg driver from the device manager so that it is reinstalled. For now it seems to be stable...

No, after a restart it shows the unstable behavior again with very long loading times but at least it works somehow.

            Hi ThBa_282891,

"KitProg version Expecting 2.20, but found 2.21. Please use PSoC Programmer GUI to upgrade firmware."

I have a KitProg with version 2.21 and I am able to connect to it using PSoC Programmer 3.28.6. Can you please let me know the version of PSoC Programmer that you are using?

Can you completely uninstall all Cypress Softwares (with registry clean up) and reinstall the latest versions?

Many reinstallations with Registry cleanup etc later

If possible can you please provide the log of the registry cleanup process? It might help us understand the issue.

            Thanks and Regards,

            Rakshith M B

unfortunately cannot tell you exactly with which update the problems started. It was a 4.2 installation and for the programmer I usually install every update, so I ASSUME it was the previous version to the current one (

I also was able to use the programmer with a higher Kitprog version but that message implies a glitch.

I uninstalled all Cypress software via windows, the Cypress removal tool, deleted files in AppData but still had the same effect no matter how often I did it or which Creator Version (4.2/4.3) I tried to install. Find one of the logs below but as I said, this did not fix the problem.

For now I have a somewhat stable toolchain with Creator 4.3/Programmer and driver version (at least I read it like that)

Reinstalling the KitProg driver via the device manger improved the behavior. Currently I do not use Creator too much but for now it seems like its somewhat stable again.

                Hi ThBa_282891,

Thank you for sharing the log and I am glad to hear that the PSoC Creator is stable for now.

If in case you face the same issue again, open the registry editor. Once the dialog box opens please navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ and check if you have a folder named Cypress. If present, then please go ahead and delete it. Then perform a complete reinstall of PSoC Creator from the following link: http://www.cypress.com/products/psoc-creator-integrated-design-environment-ide. Reinstall PSoC Programmer too with this link - https://www.cypress.com/products/psoc-programming-solutions

I was unable to find this in the log shared.

If the issue is still not resolved, please create a new thread and we will try and resolve the issue.

                Thanks and Regards,
