It seems drv8834 differs from drv8824 in lower voltage.
Maybe my version of drv8824 + PSoC 4 (PSoC Creator 4.0) will help you a little

Hey built an example for controlling two motors here it is a very simple approach.

It is using the drv8824 but it is the same for most stepper drivers anyway
