Hi,

We are using CCG2 controller to negotiate the voltage over USB3.1 power line from 5V to either 5/12/15/20V. In existing design I2C interface of CCG2 controller is connected to FX3 controller (CYUSB3035-BZXC).

The USB data lines from USB type-C connector are connected to FX3 controller are connected through external Mux/Demux switch.

At the time of design, we took reference from the attached reference explorer kit and used the same Mux/Demux switch as used in this reference kit.

Please let us know if we can replaced CCG2 controller and existing external Mux/Demux with CCG4 PD controller (http://www.cypress.com/products/ez-pd-ccg4m-two-port-usb-type-c-controller-pd-and-high-speed-mux) and connect with FX3 controller (CYUSB3035-BZXC).

Also, please let us know if there is any explorer kit or reference design available for the CCG4 controller?

Thanks & Regards,

Sunny Watts

Hi Sunny,

It is possible to use CCG4M to replace the CCG2 and USB mux.

Currently, any reference kit/design is not available. But CCG4 is being used in an upcoming reference design that can be used for CCG4M.

You can refer to this KBA for more details - Build CCG4M Project Using CCG4 Project in SDK 3.0.1 and Later Versions – KBA219845

Please take a look at the application diagrams in CCG4M datasheet.

Regards,

Rajath
