I have a design in production, and just realized I grounded the P5 IND pin.  According to the application notes and datasheet this pin should be left floating.  What are the effects of grounding this pin?  Will this damage the device?  Will this increase current consumption.

My designs appear to be working but I want to understand any potential effects for units already out in the field.

There should not be any problem as long as Vboost pin is also grounded.

There can be additional leakage current for these pins in low power mode as they are grounded. Other than that there shouldn’t be any issue.

I read the hardip bros, but still cannot find an official answer. Through circuit analysis I don’t see any potential risks if VBAT and VBOOST pins are also grounded together with IND. Let's create a CDT to trace this issue.

Any update here?

Can you ask customer monitor the current flow when chip power up?  If there has no instantaneous high current when chip powered on, then there shouldn't be any risk then. This is a theory analysis from IP doc.
