Hello,
I just received my dev kit for the Psoc 5 and am able to download code to it. I was trying to generate a 4 Mhz clock for SPI and was getting a weird saw tooth pattern.
During my testing, smoke started to come from the power plug part of the board. I have just USB hooked up and have never used the power port.
D3 and D4 started smoking and the rest of the board seems to function.
Do you guys have any idea how to fix this or what might have happened?
Thanks for the insight,
R04

... I think I found the problem 😕
I miss read the label for Port D and had my gound for my probe hooked to 5V. I think I drew to much current and fried the regulator.

Most regulators have internal short circuit protection and
thermal protection. However they are not generally protected
from reverse dumps output to input by overstressing output.
You might have created a shorted cap with some reverse polarity.
Maybe lift the reg output pin and load it a little (it might need a min
load to stay in regulation, look up its datasheet on web) and see
if its still viable.
