Yes indeed, the WICED OTA upgrade example does rely on using an external SPI serial Flash.If you want to use OTA upgrade & factory reset functionality (which are part of the WICED App Framework) "as-is" then you need to include a SPI serial Flash in your design.You can of course chose to architect OTA upgrades any way that you like, but you will need to write the necessary code to implement your method.What are you trying to achieve?We are always looking to make life easier for our customers by adding additional features and architectures where it makes sense.
