Hello,
I would like to confirm the following description in the CYBT-483056-02 datasheet.
https://www.cypress.com/file/511686/download
■ Certified up to +20 dBm for FCC and ISED
■ Certified up to +10 dBm for MIC and CE standards
Checking the Test report, the maximum output power of CE and MIC (Japan) is as follows.
RF Regulatory Certifications for CYBT-483039-02 EZ-BT™ XR Module - KBA224516
[CE]
-BT: 20dBm (Limit)
* 1972087R-RF-CE-EN300328-BT3.0-EZ-BT WICED XR Module with Mesh-CYBT-483039-02, CYBT-483056-02, CYBT-483062-02-V1.0.pdf
-BLE: 20dBm (Limit)
* 1972087R-RF-CE-EN300328-BLE-EZ-BT WICED XR Module with Mesh-CYBT-483039-02, CYBT-483056-02, CYBT-483062-02-V1.0.pdf
[MIC]
-BT: 20dBm [3mW / MHz] (Limit)
* 1972087R-RF-MIC (BT 3.0)-EZ-BT WICED XR Module with Mesh-CYBT-483039-02, CYBT-483056-02, CYBT-483062-02-V1.0.pdf
-BLE: 10dBm (Limit)
* 1972087R-RF-MIC (BT 4.0) -EZ-BT WICED XR Module with Mesh-CYBT-483039-02, CYBT-483056-02, CYBT-483062-02-V1.0.pdf
* 1972087R-RF-MIC (BT 5.0)-EZ-BT WICED XR Module with Mesh-CYBT-483039-02, CYBT-483056-02, CYBT-483062-02-V1.0.pdf
Why does the datasheet limit CE and MIC to 10 dBm?
Can CE and MIC be used with the output Power as per the test report?
Best regards,
Takahashi

Hi,
I believe, in the initial page of datasheet, under module description, the regulatory certification values for CE and MIC are given for BLE specifically. I will try to double confirm this with appropriate teams and let you know in couple of days.
As per the regulation documents (test results), for BLE, the tested RF output power values are upto/around ~10dBm only in case of CE, though the maximum permissible limit is 20dBm. And in case of MIC for BLE, the maximum limit itself is 10dBm.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have confirmed that the 10dbm limit mentioned in the datasheet for CE and MIC is specific to BLE only as I mentioned earlier.
We will update the datasheet (next revision) with this info to make it clear for all.
Please let us know if you have any doubt.
Thanks,

Hi,
Thank you for your answer.

Why did you limit CE/BLE to 10dBm?

Takahashi

Hi,
This limitation is because the maximum Power Spectral Density is limited to 10dBm per MHz. The biggest restriction is not the limit of RF Output Power, it is limit of Power Spectral Density.
