Dear Cypress,

We are in the process of Bluetooth certification for a product with CYBT-413034 and got an EOL notice some time ago. We saw that the LE controller QDID expired for the EOL product and we were wondering:

- Are there plans to renew the controller QDID for the CYBT-413034?

- If not, what new QDID can we use for the new drop-in replacement module?

Thank you for your response.

The QDID will not requality for the latest TCLR recently.

For your application, you can find a certification lab and help you for the listing to see if there is new test evidence needed.

Then we can find our certification engineer to supply it to you.

Please contact a local FAE/Marketing for the requirement of the test evidence.

There is no specific plan to renew the controller QDID. The QDID will not change after the renew.

If you are using module product in your design, you can combine the module end product QDID which will never expire.(Launch Studio - Listing Details (bluetooth.com)).

Hi,

Thank you for the quick response. Just to clarify we are not using WICED we are just using the LE controller as an HCI device in our end-product based on Linux.

Unfortunately what you are suggesting is not possible in Bluetooth Launch Studio:

Furthermore, using an end product QDID means we have to do all required testing ourselves which is what we are trying to prevent using a prequalified Cypress module:

Isn't there a LE controler QDID for the drop-in replacement 413055?

Best regards,

Mattia

If you want to do all the certification by yourself, you can use the QDID for 20719B2. The module 413055 is based on the 20719B2 device.

You can find the QDID of the controller for 20719B2 here: Launch Studio - Listing Details (bluetooth.com)

Hi,

We of course do not want to do all the tests by ourselves, which is why we buy the Cypress prequalified module.

We have an additional question: Our project uses TCLR2019-2 which includes some extra tests not covered by the Cypress QDID. For example the following test is now required but was optional in the past TCLR:

HCI/CCO/BV-18-C,TP/CCO/BV-18-C,LE Read Transmit Power Command,A,04/15/2020,"15), 16)",( 4.0HCI 5/44),,,,,,,,,,,,

We are not planning on going to a bluetooth qualified test facility for these test chapters (HCI / LL / RF PHY), will there be an updated QDID tested against the latest TCLR? I can imagine other companies will be affected the same way as us.

We don't know the actual difference between test plans, in case you need to know exactly which tests are affected we can provide you our test list.

May I know which certification are you proceeding?

Could you refer to the following KBA: Process for Qualifying a Bluetooth Product - KB... | Cypress Developer Community

We are doing end product qualification but with a Bluez Host, we're only using the cypress controller, so:

Scenario 2 – Using the silicon and creating your own End Product QDID by inheriting the evidence from Cypress’s Component QDIDs

  1. Modifying the supported features of the link layer or host.
Which is HOST in our case.

We have a host QDID for the module. But you are using your own host. So it is not available for your application. You need to use your own host and the controller to do the certification again.

Hi,

Maybe it wasn't clear let me try to rephrase my question:

We want to re-use Test Evidence from the valid Cypress LE controller QDID in combination with our own custom host to be combined in an End Product listing.

The new TCLR from Bluetooth SIG seems to have changed the required tests to be run, where some tests that were optional before are now required, meaning in order to use the LE controller QDID we are now required by Bluetooth SIG to run tests on the cypress LE controller at a Bluetooth Qualified Test Facility.

Is there any plan to requalify the Cypress LE controller against the latest TCLR? Or any other support that you could provide us in this? I am sure we are not the only company using a custom host in combination with Cypress products.

Thank you for your support.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. We have the full test list required to be tested at a certification lab already, could you point us to a certificaiotn engineer via DM? Or you can mail me at mattia.fiumara@bgrid.com.

Thanks again for your support.
