I'm developing a master application and wish to synchronize to a slave, which has a characteristic from which I may obtain it's advertisment timing.

Is there any way to obtain the scan timer value from the ble central stack, please? If not, I will have to identify and record the time that blecen_Scan() is called by the application and do the timing with the fine timer instead.

I am trying to develop a BLE application utilizing CYBT-343026-01 series modules and ez-serial firmware version  EZ-Serial WICED Firmware V1.1.14 .

Gap_set_device_name command does not work according [1]  page 93 .  I cannot set the device name in the cypress Ble module. In [1] page 93 (figure 1) you describe that it takes two input arguments . First input argument is the Device Type (0:BLE , 1: BT) and the second one is the string name (0-64 bytes)

According [1] page 28 section 3.1.3 Changing Device Name and Appearance  , Example 3 , Gap_set_device_name  command response returns error parameter 0x020C [1] (EZ-Serial System Error Codes table 7-4 - page 160).  Also it takes one input argument (Device name ) and not two input arguments according [1] page 93.

The binary command

from example 3.1.3  figure 3 returns error code 0x020C  and not 0x0000 as you say in example 3 figure2

Please see the attached logic analyser diagram for the returned error code ( device_name_bug_MFT21_NVM_0XD0_example_3_1_3.logicdata). It is from saleae logic analyser [2].

I have done another 2 examples with the same result.

EZ-Serial Version : E = 01010E06

BLE Stack             : S = 05020016

Protocol Version  : P  = 0103

Your example 3  in [1] page 28 section 3.1.3 Changing Device Name and Appearance   does not work. Maybe there is error in the documentation because the description of the command is different from the implementation example 3 . The command works in TEXT mode but it does not work in BINARY mode.  May you provide a fix or clarify better the input parameters  for the Set Device Name command? Please provide me a Fix A.S.A.P. because I have to provide release version of my code  for the BLE application next week.

We are developing a system with the CYBT-343026-01 EZ-BT™ WICED® Module, and we have a question from production, as they would prefer not to have to program the module and whether it is possible to purchase ready programmed with a know version of EZ-SERIAL?

I am investigating whether it is possible to update the [user] firmware on the BCM20736S. On the product, the 20736 is connected to a microcontroller via the SPI port. The HCI UART is only accessible via an external header and you have to take the unit apart to get at it.

The micro connected to the 20736 is connected to the Internet and I can download firmware images from a remote server and pass it to the BLE module via SPI. So, my questions are these:

1. Is it at all possible to reprogram the BLE device over SPI?

2. If it *is*, do you need to create a custom bootlader?

3. If you do need to create a custom bootloader is there any documentation about how to do this? How difficult  would a bootloader be to implement?

4. If you do *not* need a bootloader to reprogram it over SPI:

     a. how do you put the 20736 into bootloader mode

     b. What are the exact commands that need to be passed to the unit?

5. If none of the above is possible, can you reprogram it over BLE? I appreciate this would be dog slow becasue it's only BLE 4.1 and therefore very small characteristics, butthis would be better than nothing.

This is of urgency to our project which is trying to keep medical staff safe during the Covid pandemic, so we would really appreciate a fast reply to this issue which we've been struggling with for quite some time. .

FWIW we are using the WICED framework for the custom software being run on the SoC.

I should possibly say that there is *no* external memory on the 20736.

I am trying to get to grips with the FW update process for the SDK, i have been using the uart_firmware_upgrade as a reference, but i am struggling to understand the following:

1. Is it possible to update the FW without external memories (External EEPROM or SFLASH)?
2. Is there any instruction for getting the uart_firmware_upgrade working on TAG4? I am unable to get this to work,

          WsUartFu: Read timeout

          WsUartFu: failed to start

It appears the data is never received on the device.

In my application, I use a CYW20736S and I need to implement a state machine. I have many GPIOs, UART, BLE, timer ... and multiple modes of user cases.

I know it's not possible to have a main() loop because this is a multi-threaded system and the architecture of the application is designed to be an event-driven system. Is there a way to implement a state machine?

I use this timer to count 5ms and to do some stuff (button, output switching, periodics data transmission in uart...):

bt_clock_based_periodic_timer_Enable(application_timer_expired_callback, NULL, 5000/625);        // 5ms

I would like to use the fine timer for my state machine. Is it possible to use this one in addition to the previous?

I would like to know how many times I can stay on the fine timer interrupt? If it's possible, can I receive BLE notifications, UARTdata or 5ms timer interruption asynchronously during a fine timer interrupt? Do you think it's possible to do many instructions in a fine timer interrupt without problems (watchdog interrupt? stacking interrupts?). Is there a way to configure priority interruptions between UART, timer, BLE notification?

Is the CYBLE-013025-00 washable?  As in, can I use water soluble paste and do a standard SMT wash process afterwards?
