After lengthy discussions with our test lab, I eventually received a quote which is totaling at around $9000.

They have listed the following tests to be done for US:

FCC Part B 15.109; (spurious emission)
FCC Part C 15.207;  (transmitter test)
FCC Part C 15.247; (transmitter test)

From my understanding, the above FCC tests need to be done.

However they are also asking me to do the following two tests for Europe:

EN 300 328, v1.8.1
EN 301 489-17, V2.2.1

Based my understanding from the Broadcom documents, we don't need to do these tests for Europe since the SIP has modular approval in Europe.

Additionally, they are asking for these tests for Canada:

ICES-003 B, Issue 5;
RSS-210, Issue 8;
RSS-102, Issue 4;

Can you please help me determine of the Europe and Canada tests are necessary?

I just sent you (used the address you registered with) the updated Regulatory .zip file from Docsafe.

The Japanese MIC file was included. Thanks for your patience.

Have a nice weekend.

I'll see if our regulatory group can provide some feedback on this quote.

Maybe some of the other users with experience in this area can comment as well.

Here's the feedback I was able to obtain:

From my understanding, the above FCC tests need to be done.

[BRCM] Agree.

However they are also asking me to do the following two tests
for Europe:

EN 300 328, v1.8.1

[BRCM] You should be able to leverage the Broadcom BCM20732S EN 301 328 v1.8.1 test report.

EN 301 489-17, V2.2.1

[BRCM] Yes, required at system level.

Based my understanding from the Broadcom documents, we don't
need to do these tests for Europe since the SIP has modular approval in Europe.

Additionally, they are asking for these tests for Canada:

ICES-003 B, Issue 5

[BRCM] similar requirement as the FCC 15B

RSS-210, Issue 8

[BRCM] similar requirement as the FCC 15C above

RSS-102, Issue 4

[BRCM] RF exposure requirement, testing exempted for BCM20732S due to its low power

[BRCM] These are applicable standards for Canada; the same testing done on the FCC above can be used for Canada report/submission.

Thanks a lot, I think I am now clear on the test requirements for FCC, IC, CE.

We would like also begin selling in Japan, and I am still not sure what needs to be done for Japan, since apparently the SIP does not have modular approval and some testing should be done for japan.

Any pointers or docs for Japan is very appreciated.

The existing BCM20732S Japan MIC can be used for the BCM20736S/37S as well.

See slide 3: Broadcom BCM20732S/BCM20736S/BCM20737S Regulatory Approvals

Similar to my initial problem with FCC, and CE, it is not clear what tests where performed by Broadcom to get approval for Japan. The test reports are necessary to determine what tests need to be re-done at host level. I still have not received the zip file from our sales reps.

I believe there must be some test documents (in the zip file) related to Japan as well?

I sent the current zip file to the folks at your local rep earlier today.

However, the zip file does not contain anything on Japan's MIC regulatory. I am checking to see what we provide related to the Japan MIC regulatory certification. I know that we claim support in the regulatory presentation we provide online, so I will look into this and see if I can figure it out.
