Hello,

we are certifying our product with BCM20737S moduled.

I saw Broadcom's document about and I saw that BCM20737S is certified for EN 300328 v.1.8.1.

1.8.1 version is valid until the end of 2016.

For version 1.9.1, is there any documentation about this module? Is it  in Broadcom's plans to certified this product also for 1.9.1?

I will need to look into this with the regulatory group.

I spoke with our regulatory team and they are closely following the standard version update and the new RED directive.

I also confirmed that our group will take care of the ETSI standard update/DOCs as needed based on the effective dates.

So:

1- Can we assume that EN 302 328 v1.9.1 will be available?

2- Can we perform partial test with this latest revision?

I need this information so we can proceed with certification...

We have no documentation to provide today related to EN 302 328 v1.9.1.

What we have for the current rev is here: https://community.broadcom.com/docs/DOC-1821?et=watches.email.document_comment#comment-2501

Thought you might be interested in a webinar we are hosting on May 3rd that covers Regulatory Testing topics specific to Broadcom BT/Wi-Fi based modules...

EN 302 328 v1.9.1 changes will be one of the topics covered.

Any updates as to when the 1.9.1 documents will be made available?

The BCM2073XS is in our plan for the EN 300 328 update to v1.9.1. We will schedule the activity in July for completion before 7/31/2016.

Where is possible to download EN 300 328 v1.9.1 report?

I believe it's included within the RED Directive update we provided here: EU Declaration of Conformity for the CYW2073XS (Red Directive)

I'm checking with the regulatory group to confirm.

in the RED Directive you can find only this files:

R104751 Rev 0 - EN 301 489 Radio EMC Report.pdf

CE RED DOC CYW20732S 20736S 20737S Updated 5-16-17.pdf

Model Correction attestation.pdf

and R104750 Rev 0-EN 300 328.pdf.

This document talk about 2.1.1 and say "Only receiver blocking was perfomed. The manufacturer stated that the results from previous testing against EN 300 328 v1.9.1 satisfies the other requirements of EN 300 328 v2.1.1"

From the forum I take this old document

14U19243-E1 EN 300 328 v1.8.1 BLE Report _Final (BCM20732S, 36S, 37S).pdf

but  no for "EN 300 328 v1.9.1 "

We are talking to our EMC Lab regarding what's needed to satisfy the 1.9.1 requirements.

More to follow.

Sorry... but probably there is a misunderstanding.

I don't need to know the 1.9.1 requirements.

I need only the document about 1.9.1 tests performed by you, because you wrote in the 2.1.1 document:

"
The manufacturer stated that the results from previous testing against EN 300 328 v1.9.1 satisfies the other requirements of EN 300 328 v2.1.1"

So, where are these tests mentioned?

Thanks.

We are working with our regulatory house on the the pricing and testing needed for adding the 1.9.1 requirements

Wait....

Did you do these tests or not?

because if the answer is no, document v.2.1.1 is not complete and document has declared false when it said "from previous testing against EN 300 328 v1.9.1"

As a result, RED certification is not complete. Next weeks I will give my product for certification RED.

300 328 V1.8.1 is roughly 90% similar to 300 329 V1.9.1.

I am told by the regulatory group that the 10% difference will in no way make the CYW20737S a non-compliant device.

The 10% difference is as follows:

  • Occupied BW 99% already tested and similar to 300 329 V1.9.1 “Except” that the analyzer sweep time is to be set to 1s.
  • Transmitter unwanted emissions in the out-of-band domain shows transmit mask 90% similar to 300 328 V1.9.1 “Except” that the analyzer data points are higher and span for scans are higher.  300 328 V1.8.1 test port margin more than -20dBm below the limit.
  • Transmitter unwanted emissions in the spurious domain shows transmit mask 90% similar to 300 328 V1.9.1 “Except” that the analyzer data points are higher and span for scans are higher.  300 328 V1.8.1 test reports margin is -15dBm below the limit

The 90% similarity includes the following:

  • Power limit and procedure is the same between 300 328 V1.8.1 and V1.9.1
  • PSD 10dBm/MHz procedure is the same between 300 328 V1.8.1 and V1.9.1
  • Duty Cycle, Tx-sequence, Tx-gap not applicable BLE power is less than 10dBm
  • Medium Utilization (MU) factor not applicable BLE power is less than 10dBm
  • Adaptivity not applicable BLE power is less than 10dBm

Again, we have done our part to assure that the CYW20737S will have not issues meeting the new changes in 300 328 V1.9.1.

As such, we are in the process of capturing the data (the 10% difference) in an effort to receive an official test report specific to 300 328 V1.9.1 from our EMC test house.

So...

at present there is no official document about test report, different from what I find written in the official document about v.2.1.1.

Our EMC test house asked me this document because without it this the module is not certified RED or certification is incomplete.

I am confident that there will be no problems with 1.9.1, module is certifiable, but I cannot say to our EMC test House "believe me and what I read on Cypress/Broadcom Forum".

I'm taking time with our EMC Test House, but I kindly ask you to give me all the complete documentation as soon as possible.

Thanks

Any news?

No.  I will need to check with the regulatory team again.

I've spoken to the regulatory team and clarified that only some additional out of band tests are needed and that we can self-declare and be in compliance with EN 300328 v.1.9.1.  I am checking on the timeline to receive the additional document to post here. It looks like 3-4 working days is what they expect.

You will still need to provide end product level EMC and immunity testing

Adding jmmh from the Regulatory Team.

Sorry... but after one month I have not received any answers yet.

il rapporto di prova radio del modulo non è completo (è stato eseguito solo il blocking); occorre il rapporto di prova precedente ETSI EN 300 328 V1.9.1

My notified entity ask me again test report ETSI EN 300 328 V1.9.1.

NOW I CANNOT WAIT because we need to complete certification.

I would be most grateful if you would look into this matter as soon as possible.
