Hi,

We had a customer with the Enhanced USB controller on an ASUS mother board they use as the engine of their product line.

If our unit is attached at power on, the controller routes the USB 2.0 USBUART to the proper controller but if power gets cycled to our unit while still attached by way of their safety interlock, the Enhanced USB controller attempts to enumerate our unit as a 3.1 device and it fails to communicate.

Is there going to be a USBUART component any time soon that is 3.1 compatible?

Regards,

Nick

Hi,

As of now we do not have any plans of making it USB 3.1 compatible.

Thanks. Fortunately 3.1 is backward compatible with 2.0 as long as the device is connected when power is applied and our customer didn't have any 3.1 devices in their system so they were able to change a bios setting to stop the behavior.

USB really isn't a viable replacement for RS-232 and RS-485 in a machine application. It's really more suited to sales demo situations.
