description about how the CC1 and CC2 pins is used for configuration ?

Suppose Samsung is tablet been connected then how port identifies the particular tablet using CC  configuration without using RID resistors?

Hi,

ACA docking is not a part of the USB Type-C and PD specification, and hence cannot be included in Type-C connector based designs. Still, PD should be sufficient to accomplish data and power transfer in opposite directions.

Please specify the type of upstream connector you are implementing in your HX3C design.

HX3C reference design can charge a Type-C tablet on its upstream Type-C interface while the tablet acts as data host. But it will not support OTG. If your tablet has USB2.0 micro-B, then it cannot connect to the upstream of HX3C.

The EEPROM setting is a common setting for HX3 and HX3C and will not enable ACA Docking in HX3C.

Hi,

CC lines from the CYUSB3343 will connect to the CC pins of a Type-C controller inside the Samsung notepad. Terminations on the CC pins will be according to the default power role of each device. CC lines will be monitored at both ends and a connection will change the voltage on the lines due to applied terminations. Then communication happens over one of the CC line according to the PD protocol. This PD communication can further configure the Type-C interface for alternate mode / data-power role swaps / changes in power contract. The notebook will be recognized as 'Samsung' using Vendor Defined Messages to exchange VID and other custom information.

Please refer to section 6.4.4 of the PD3.0 specification from USB-IF for details on VDM's (attached).

We have Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 which support ACA Dock on USB2.0 (USB Micro) port. We have tested it with Cypress Development Kit CY4613 (http://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/cy4613-hx3-usb-30-shared-link-developmen... ) and works flawlessly. We are able to set the RID_A value to put the Tablet in ACA Dock Mode so it can accept the charge and have data transfer.

We are moving ahead with USB Type-C power delivery as well. I do not know how we are handling the USB2.0 ACA Dock and Type-C PD on this HX3C chip. CC lines are there to support only USB PD2.0 and USB PD3.0 but are not even relavent to USB2.0 ACA Dock. When reading the documents of HX3C it was mentioned that we can set the EEPROM # 17(3) to enable ACA Dock on US Port.

According to my understanding is that we still be required to have RID_A value pin if we are going to support both of USB2.0 ACA Dock and USB Type-C PD in the same product. I need to know how are we accomplishing this HX3C chipset? I could not find the reference in the reference design.
