Hello,

We are using CYUSB3610 in one of our design which is in the design stage right now.

Below are the few queries related to chipsets:

1) Is there any suggested magnetic part# for the chipset as reference schematic is using magjack but we need discrete solution i.e separate magnetic & separate RJ45 Conn in our design

2) Is serial EEPROM is compulsory in the design or we can skip this & try to execute the code from the internal memory of the chipset? Please confirm

Regards,

Ronak

Hi Ronak,

--1) 1) Is there any suggested magnetic part# for the chipset as reference schematic is using magjack but we need discrete solution i.e separate magnetic & separate RJ45 Conn in our design

It is recommended to use RJ45 with integrated magnetic coil but you can try with discrete components. Magnetic component(xfmr) used must follow the standards as followed by Bothhand LA1S109-43(Turns Ratio 1CT:1CT). Also keep the magnetic coil and Giga PHY controller as close as possible(<5 inches). Follow all the hardware design guidelines as mentioned in section 4.5 of AN97119.

--2) Is serial EEPROM is compulsory in the design or we can skip this & try to execute the code from the internal memory of the chipset? Please confirm

The configurable parameter values are stored in EEPROM so that while booting, the GX3 loads the parameter values from the EEPROM. If the EEPROM is blank or has invalid data, the GX3 loads the default parameters stored in its internal memory.

Thanks & Regards
