Hi Cypress Tech Support Forum,

I would like to ask for some support for the CY7C65642.

It was discovered that the +3.3V (generated from the CY7C65642's internal regulator) is shorted to Ground.

Can anyone please educate me on what mechanism can cause such short in the internal regulator?

Thank you in advance!

KK

1. Please check if you get a bad chip. Try to replace it with a new one.

2. Check if your PCB board is well-designed. Any defect from PCB manufacure/assembling/soldering?

Hi KK,

I have two questions.

1. Why do you say the internal regulator is shorted to GROUND? Do you check this?

2. Could you please sharte your PCB?

Hi,

1. Yes I have measured it relative to Ground and found it was shorted. It also has a very hot touch to it.

2. I am unable to send the PCB but here is how the Hub is powered:

Hub is powered by 5V VBUS coming from a computer.

Hub's internal voltage regulator generates the 3.3V

Can you please kindly advise what possible conditions could have caused such short on the internal regulator?

Thank you!
