USB EZ-PD™ Type-C Forum Discussions
What USB - Serial interface should I purchase to use with the EZ-PD Configuration Utility?
Am I correct in assuming that I need to connect to the CYPD5235 using GPIO_P1.1 and GPIO_P1.2?

Hi,
I am looking at the CYPD7171-40LQXQ device and it states that the input voltage is 24V but its 40V tolerant (while SW1 can go up to 35V). Can this device be used in an 8S battery application where the nominal voltage is 28.8V but can go up to a maximum of 33.6V?
Show LessHi all! We are using CYPD3177 in our application as a sink, and it seems like it works fine but we've noticed some strange behavior - after connecting it to the PD source it successfully requests the PD profile and our device is working normally but after some random unpredictable time CYPD3177 starts PD profile request procedure again. As a result we have unstable supply at 12V with short 100 ms drops to 5V at random time (it could repeat with the period from few seconds to few minutes). We've catched it with the oscilloscope and then confirmed with the EZ PD Protocol Analyzer Utility.
As we can see on the EZ PD Protocol Analyzer Utility screenshot - before PD re-initialization the device was working at 12V, and there was no overcurrents or load drops (current line on the graph is quite stable), like during working process CYPD3177 just decided to re-request power source the power profile again.
Do you have any idea why it acting like this? What additional info will be useful to better understand what is going wrong?
Hello Infineon support,
I have a question for document of CCG3/5 Application Note that described the behavior of OVP detection.
The operation after the OVP circuit of CCG5 described in AN210403 detects an overvoltage is described as "will be notified via the OVP_TRIP GPIO pin.", whereas the operation of CCG3 described in the same AN The operation is described as ", CCG3 detects the overvoltage at VBUS and turns OFF the VBUS from the external power supply. CCG3 also turns OFF power consumer FETs Q3 and Q4 as shown in Figure 62 and disconnects itself from the Type-C port. "
Does this mean that the behavior is clearly different between CCG5 and CCG3?
Please explain in detail the major differences in behavior.
Best regards,
Koki
Hello Infineon Team,
Thank you for your usual support.
The VBUS_C_CTRL pin of CCG5 is expected to be an open drain output, but in that case, how large is the drain current?

Koki
Show LessHi Team,
We want to build a project for CYPD6127-48LQXI. But in the EZ-PD CCGX Host SDK user guide it is mentioned to use the appropriate version 4.5 or later of PsoC Creator . But we can install only the 4.4 version on the Infineon site.
Kindly provide the installation link for PsoC creator 4.5.

Show LessHi,
I have question about CCG5's OCP and OVP detection.
CCG5/CCG5C has OCP_TRIP and OVP_TRIP pins that notify the occurrence of OCP and OVP, but can the EC read the occurrence of OCP and OVP via I2C without using these pins?
Or is it only possible to notify EC using the dedicated pin mentioned above?
Also, I would like to understand the specifications of what EC can do via I2C, so it would be helpful if you could point me to the relevant documents.
Best regards,
Koki
