Hi Cypress

In the process of updating Retimer FW on our TGL-U Platform , We have first requested HW to switch to FW update mode before performed Retimer capsule update, We found that it did not enter update mode ( We use Intel Tool for detection ) so that we need your help as below , Thank !!

1.Please refer to the orange box : How to enter FW update mode? How to check it already enter FW update mode ?

2.Please refer to the red box : Our design does not have EC ( We use BIOS for update process) so that we need to know which Command or message will be sent back to EC after Retimer self-checking ? Then what will CCG5 send back to EC to complete the entire Update process?

3.Do you have any update details sequence or sample codec for reference , Thank !!

Hello ,

Kindly refer my comments as below:

1.Please refer to the orange box : How to enter FW update mode? How to check it already enter FW update mode ?

>> From CCG5 side, CCG5 will only need wait for commands from EC and force BB_retimer into TBT mode. And please kindly notice that the data along with command should be 1 byte: 0x01 -> Force TBT Mode. If the data length is not match, the force TBT command cannot be executed.

2.Please refer to the red box : Our design does not have EC ( We use BIOS for update process) so that we need to know which Command or message will be sent back to EC after Retimer self-checking ? Then what will CCG5 send back to EC to complete the entire Update process?

>> The package from EC to CCG5 have been defined in the HPIv2 specification, you could get this documentation from local sales with NDA. CCG5 will ack 0x02 as successful. After BB retimer complete update, EC will reset BB retimer and CCG5 will receive command and set it to Normal (0x00).

3.Do you have any update details sequence or sample codec for reference .

>> We do not have documentation could be released to you, since the process was controlled by Intel, you could get relates documentations from Intel.

Best Regards,

Lisa
