Hi,I'm Minami (sales) in Japan,   I think BCR(CYPD3177) have power to expand more Type-C(PD) market in the world.

Could you please explain the difference compared with other CCG3PA products ?

Thanks & Regards

Hello Minami-san,

For more information, kindly read Overview, datasheet, EVK Guide, etc.

https://www.cypress.com/products/ez-pd-barrel-connector-replacement-bcr

https://www.cypress.com/documentation/development-kitsboards/cy4533-ez-pd-bcr-evaluation-kit

BCR will be a game changer for barrel connector products.

A device, such as a speaker, shaver, power tools, modem etc. that use a barrel connector for power will benefit from using a universal power interface such as USB Type-C (by BCR).

Best regards,

Hirotaka Takayama

HI Minami,

Simply speaking, CCG3PA are more flexible, we can customize firmware for CCG3PA but not BCR. The main differences are:

1. BCR cannot support power bank design.

2. CCG3PA can support one Type-C port and one Type-A port, but BCR can only support one Type-C port.

3. CCG3PA can support more legacy charge protocols.

Regards,
Eddie
