We are plan to make a product use PD & QC4 power charger/adapter as power source.

This mean we need support PD+QC4 sink power.

Could CCG3PA suitable to support this product SPEC.?

Is any firmware or certification need to care?

If QC4 not go through Qualcomm certification, have any concern?

Thanks,

Mitchell

Hi Mitchell,

1. Yes. CCG3PA is suit yo support this product specification.

2. Please kindly make sure use the latest firmware of CCG3PA if you are going to get the certification. Currently, the latest SDK is supporting PD3.0 and QC4.0+.

3. If you have the specified failure of Qualcomm certification, please kindly contact us, we will support you.

Best Regards,

Lisa

Hi Mitchell,

You can use CCG3PA for your product.

Regarding firmware you can begin with CYPD3171-24LQXQ_pb example firmware project from CCGx Power SDK in PSoC Creator.

CCG3PA can be configured as Sink only device from the Configuration Utility by selecting port role in port parameters as Sink.

There is no need for any QC certification for Sink design.

Will you be using Programmable Power Supply (PPS) for your Sink design?

Pranava

Dear Lisa & Pranava,

Thanks your quickly response.

For QC4+ sink application, is it backward compatibility with QC2/QC3 sink?

Or backward compatibility QC2/QC3 only for accessory like Charger/adapter/power bank of power source?

And I think PPS not major to support in our product, we just need make sure to get high voltage (watt) for battery charging quickly.

So QC4+ is PD+PPS, maybe BCR is another suggestion for sink application without QC2/3/PPS support.

Thanks,

Mitchell

Hi Mitchell,

QC4 is not backward compatibility with QC2/QC3 sink, since QC4 is based on CC of Type-C interface.  QC4+ is not PD+PPS, it is also belongs to Qualcomm.

Lisa
