Hello!
I need to design a USB HUB circuit with USB-C ports with Power Delivery.
The customer wants to use the CCG3-PD controller. How do I connect a pair of D + D- to both the hub and CCG3?
Please advise how to connect D + D-.
Or connect only to the hub controller? What kind of functionality do I have for CCG3?
Are there any examples of using CCG3 for USB hubs.

Hi яковчуринов,

1. If you just need USB support, you can only wire Type-C D+/D- to HX3 US D+/D-.

2. If you need support DisplayPort and USB on Type-C, you need wire Type-C D+/D- to HX3 US D+/D- and then wire HX3 DS D+/D- to D+/D- of CCG3.

3. Recommend you refer below two reference design.

EZ-PD™ CCG3 USB Type-C Charge-Through Dongle

EZ-PD™ CCG4 USB Type-C Monitor/Dock Solution

4. Please kindly noticed that D+/D- of CCG3 is billboard feature.

Best Regards,

Lisa

Thanks for the answer.
I want to clarify the question.
The CCG3 has the function of Charger Detection / Emulation for USB BC1.2 and other proprietary protocols.
The USB hub also has a CDP (charging downstream port)
specification revision 1.2. DSPORT Transceiver to make handshake
With a portable device which is compliant with USB Battery charging spec rev1.2 as well. After recognizing
charging detection each other, portable device will take up to 1.5A from VBUS to fast charge its battery.

Can CCG3 perform the functions of USB BC1.2, if it does not connect D +, D-, but only provide a logical level
on one of the GPIO's ?

Hi Яков Чуринов,

CCG3 DM/DP cannot re-route to GPIO usage. CCG3PA DM/DP can do it.
