HI,

working on a 3171 with PD output but unable to make advertisement of 5A even after turning Vconn on and changing config to 5A at 20V.... it just reverts back to 3A as if its not checking for cable response, code made on CCG3PA power SDK... so not sure what is wrong

Any and all ideas for testing what could be the issue are welcome

Hi Rad,

Please kindly noticed that the SOP' message have already sent out but the cable without any ACKed. This is not meaning of no cable indentification inside PD sniffer, it is means CCG3PA have already adverting now, but cable is not ACK.

Best Regards,

Lisa

Hi Rad,

You should check the E-Marker cable you are testing is support 5A or not? From the CC log you attached, it seems you are not using the E-marker cable.

1. Refer your CC log: The SOP' message without any ACKed.

2. Refer the PD3.0 SPEC, the Cable VDO of E-marker cable structure is below:

Yes it’s a 5A certified cable and yes it works with apple 4.2A 20V power brick , so we know it’s something on our design or code

We are using the latest SDK but we are using pin 5/6 that are D lines could vconn fets not be triggered due to interaction of code for QC/Legacy support ?

We disabled A support in the code but possible not everything is disabled

What else can I provide or test

Hi Rad,

If you are assured the cable is 5A capabilities, you should check whether the VCONN is enabled on your project or not.  You shall not multiple use D+ and D- ad GPIO if you need support legacy support also. You could use additional GPIOs (SWD_CLK and SWD_DAT) for VCONN control.

Yes, vconn is enabled and yes we are aware that we can use other pins as output.

Question pertains to the config settings for proper Vconn support as we can show 5V activity on our logic analyzer but no cable indentification inside PD sniffer

What else can we try?
