Hello All,

We are using CCG3PA [CYPD3171-24] in our design. When we try to do PD Contract with Normal Type-C cable, It working fine, but when we are doing PD Contract with Speical cable

[VCONN Pass through Cable], CCG3PA is not able to establish PD contract. Please find the image below. How to make CCG3PA work with special cable?CCG3PA.png

Ra shall not be applied by either CCG3PA or external discrete resistance on CC2.

Rd will be applied by CCG3PA on CC1.

Hi rajath,

Please find attached screenshot of CC line. UUT is sending Source capabilities, But CCG3PA is not responding.

Please note that UUT is providing VCONN voltage of 5V which is directly going to CCG3PA.

Not sure if our case is different but we are using the CY4532 EVK with (Cypress default) PA firmware and SINK is CY4533 EVK. Modified the PDOs to support up to 20V. Interconnect cable is the E-marked USB 3.1 Gen2 cable (Digikey p/n Q1243-ND).

Each contract is being selected correctly using this Qualtek cable and rotating the rotary switch on the CY4533.

In case 2, please float the other CC line on CCG3PA (VCONN). Ra should not be applied.

[Harsha] In Normal case, we will connect standard Type-C Cable which will be having Ra on CC2. In That How CCG3PA works then ?

In a normal cable case, Ra will be presented by the cable at the upstream which draws VCONN from source. CCG3PA will pull down both CC lines using Rd on the downstream end.
