USB EZ-PD Type-C

Dear Cy tech team,

   

      Could you please explain me the role of CCG1 in this design? I think Type C to Legacy USB can be achieved with a single resistor. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

For Type-C cable designs which do not need any power delivery, Type-C to USB can be achieved using a single resistor. However if the power requirements are not met for the device connected to USB, for negotiation we need the CCG chip.
