PSoC™ Creator & Designer Forum Discussions
I am trying to take a 4.4 ap note project and move to 5.3. 5.3 says I
first have to compile in 4.4. When I go to do that 4.4 complains I have
no license, and in options menu, compiler, sure enough license field
is empty.
What do I use in that field for the free STD version of the compiler ?

Show LessI am looking for a freeware Win utility that has the following capabilities -
1) Detects all USB devices on a system.
2) Allows user to turn power off on the port, and back on again. Goal is to
force a Win driven renegotiation of a device that is hung, in my case a wireless
link that has dropped connection. ipconfig is no help here. The other case is
a webcam that does not always startup.
3) Can handle scripts to implement 2) to be run in task scheduler.
Anybody know of one ?

Show LessThere is a thread in the forum which Cypress should consider, allowing
users to integrate USB debug in a production environment, low cost, w/o
Miniprog3. There are a number of folks, including myself, who see this
as a competitive advantage.

Show LessHi,
we will use the PSoC Creator in a classroom for our students. For the rollout we plan an installation without any user action. Is there a way to do a silent setup? The InstallShield-options seems to be ignored.
Show LessEzADC comments
1) Sample rate is shown on first instance as 0.121, that
would be 0.121 what ? Oersteds, grams, Ksps......No units
shown.
2) When place is first initiated, user presented with choice
of 1 or two modulator architecture, but in Description no
comments as to advantages/disadvantages of the use of 1 or 2
modulators. Should be a bullet list of advantages/disadvatages,
tradeoffs. For example dual modulator requires 2 columns, and
clks in both columns from same source. That is potentially a dis-
advatage. Longer latency in flushing filters, lower SPS.....blah
blah blah.
If user reads datasheet ( we can only hope ) then life is good.
But point is a quick summary when placing module, for those that
don't.
3) Descriptive info, nowhere does it indicate a PGA will also be
placed. And that "Buffer Gain" is PGA gain, not an amp in ADC.
4) A comment on place screen, this is a R-R inout solution, or not.
5) Maybe set up a novice EE tester, you tell him to place this
module, then watch and record all his questions, might be very
informative. Then revise tool to handle most of the inquiries
relating to use. Just a thought, basically marketing research
in a technical sense.
PWM Comments -
1) Why no 24 or 32 bit simple PWM ? You have the counter modules
for same.......I suppose we could use respective timers to get
the equiv PWM resolution. Additionally when using a pWM as a DAC,
how to compute ripple vs 1'st or 2'ond order LP filters, how to
get to "effective" resolution and settling time for a given filter.

Show LessI successfully downloaded the latest Designer but at the start of the installation I get a message
"The installer being used currently is out of date. Please download the latest version of Installer to install PSoc Designer"
The installer then exits, cleaning up like a godd little installer
How do I update the Installer? I just finished downloading the lastest Programmer and Poscoc Creator and they installed OK.
I downloaded 5.1 Beta & it gives the same message.
I suspect its a glitch in the way the software checks for the installer, it seems to be looking for a specific installer and doesn't recognise an even later model
Show LessThe Cypress Download Manager does not run the setup.exe file once I download it (for creator2.1 service pack4).
The Cypress Update Manager just uninstalled creator2.1 SP4 following an update of same when I installed examples from a -030 kit CD.... I clicked Configure!!! next to creator2.1 SP4
Calming down now.
Is there a document that explains these two managers? Honestly, I have had trouble with them for a year or more.

Show LessHi All.
I recently went to use the emWin package within a PSoC5 project, and was disappointed to learn that Cypress seems to have licensed the GUIDRV_CompactColor_16 display driver only. Are there any plans to extend the number of display drivers that are offered? I am having difficulty sourcing a graphical LCD module that uses any of the controllers supported by the existing display driver.
