I am new to this kit. I tried to connect a character LCD and I couldn't make it work only if I connect it to port 2. I read on some places that other ports such as 3 have analog pins and therefore it could introduce some noise. I connect it to port 12 which should be suitable for digital connection. However, it didn't work neither.
It is a little bit disturbing because the LED is connected to 2.1 pin.
Is this behavior is normal ??

Using Port 12[0:6] would be ideal choice for digital connections. Please make sure you have all the connections as illustrated below:
You can check the Character LCD datasheet for more information. Attached is a sample project for firmware reference.
