Can you kindly attach your project which I suppose is based on CY8C27443. Since the example project is based on CY8C28645, which has the OneWire on P4_4 and P5_0, I would be unable to confirm your question. Kindly refer to the AN2163 on page 13, section 13, where it is mentioned that these two pins have to be shorted. If you have the OneWire User module connecting to chip pins 16 and 17, then what you have done is correct, by shorting these two pins together, and connecting it to DS18x20 DQ pin.
