Tuner Helper connection

I would like to be able to use the 5 pin programmer pins to both program and connect the tuner helper using a miniprog3. So far I have always needed to use a separate I2C port and pins to run the tuner helper. There must be a way to share that connector so that you can both program and then switch right over to the helper. Any suggestions or has anyone done this?
