When placing I2CHW as slave in 28445 I see the parameter Auto_Addr_Check, which I don't recall seeing before. It is not mentioned in the module's datasheet. What is this for?

The part might have hardware address detection, so that it can wakeup on address compare, and not on bus activity. This would allow the part to consume less power when sharing the I2C bus with multiple slaves.
Does the part have hardware address detection?

This part has hardware address detection feature. As specified by Max that it allows the part to consume less power and to wake up from sleep on address compare.

Yea, the new PSoC1 parts: CY8C22xxx/21x45 and CY8C28XXX all have the hardware address detection function on I2C.
