In the clock view, double click on any clock to get the "Configure System Clocks" dialog. There you tell the external clock's frequency and change the source for the main-clock HFCLK to external. No other specifications for pin 0_6 are needed afaik. Do not put p0_6 into your pin list, will be handled by the system.

Hi, In the ExtOsc.png you can see the settings. All works now OK. My problem with VALPEY-FISHER 40 MHz oscillator was caused by HW. On the CY8CKIT-042 one ceramic 100n blocking condensator and one tantal 1uF elyt as close as possible to the oscillator solved the situation with oscillator start/stability. Regards, Viktor

Viktor, when using bulk bypassing, tants, take a look at Polymer Tantalum,
'they have ~ 10X better f vs ESR curves than traditional tantalums. Much better
caps.
