Hello,

I have a question about sensor trace of PSoC4000S CapSense.

We can find the width of the sensor trace(7mil) and the air gap between the sensor trace and the ground(10mil - 20mil).

Do we also need to take the air gap of 10mil - 20mil between the sensor traces?

Or is it enough to be about 7mil, which is the same as the sensor trace?

Hi @YoIs_1298666,

It is recommended to leave a gap of at least 7mil in between sensor traces.

The gap may be higher depending on what the Cp (parasitic capacitance) of the sensor is. The recommended range for sensor parasitic capacitance Cp is:

  1. Third-Generation CapSense: 5pF to 60pF
  2. Fourth-Generation CapSense: 5pF to 200pF

The mutual capacitance is independent of the sensor parasitic capacitance.

Depending on these, the gap may be varied.

Nikhil
