When transitioning from Autoselect mode to CFI Query mode, it can not enter CFI Query mode unless they send the reset command.

Is it necessary to send the reset command below?

The below is actually the sequence.

  1. 1. Send three
    cycles of Autoselect mode command.

Address    data

1 cycle        AAA        AA

2 cycles      555          55

3 cycles     AAA         90

  1. 2. Obtain the value of DeviceID
  2. 3. Obtain the value of Manufacturer ID
  3. 4. Reset, and exit Autoselect mode

                Address    data

1 cycle      00         F0

  1. 5. Send command in CFI Query mode.

Address  data

1 cycle         AA         98

Hello Arai San,

For this 64Mb density GL-S device and some of the legacy parallel flash devices you need to provide a reset command to come out of Autoselect mode and enter CFI mode.

Since the part number was not provided in the initial description I looked at the higher density GL-S datasheet .

So, Yes you need to send reset command to enter CFI mode from Auto select mode for S29GL064S device.

Thanks,

Krishna.

Hello Arai San,

No it is not necessary to give reset command. You can follow the command sequence which will be given in the Command Summary table of the datasheet.

Thanks,

Krishna.

Hello Krishna san

However, if they do not send the following reset command, it can not transit from Autoselect mode to CFI Query mode.

>4. Reset, and exit Autoselect mode

>              Address    data

>1 cycle      00         F0

Is there any reason?
