Can I erase all 16 of the 4KB blocks at the beginning and end of memory space using a single 64KB erase command?

Or, do I have to issue 16 4KB erase commands for these blocks?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Cypress Semiconductor.

The command for erasing a 4-KB sector is supported only for use on the 4-KB parameter sectors at the top or bottom of the device address space. The 4-KB erase command will only erase the parameter sectors.  The sector erase command for 64-KB sectors is supported when the configuration option for 4-KB parameter sectors with 64-KB uniform sectors is used.  However, it is important to note, the 64-KB erase command may be applied to erase a group of sixteen 4-KB sectors.  Status Register 2, bit-7 (SR2[7]) selection determines the actual sector architecture configuration.

The erase command for a 256-KB sector replaces the 64-KB erase command when the configuration option for 256-KB uniform sectors is used.

Hope this clarifies things...

Best regards,

Albert
