Hi JiaweiL_16, MoTa_728816,
Thank you for pointing this out. There exists an internal ticket regarding this issue already and our development team is looking into this.
Can you please let me know if you are still able to use modus-shell and ModusToolbox with other IDEs?
As it is a Java-related error, I suspect that it is limited to the Eclipse IDE bundled with ModusToolbox installer and I just wanted to confirm.
Also, I found this thread which might provide some information on why the error occurs - ERROR MESSAGE: 500: java.lang.NullPointer… - Apple Community
Thanks and Regards,

Hi,
I tested and duplicated the same (or similar) symptom.
Note: I have not found a workaround, yet.
My mac's "About"
(MacBook Pro 2020 "INTEL" Core i7)
In the ModusToolbox Installation Guide it says that we need to do
xcode-select --install
So I did
Then I started ModusToolbox (MTB) and got
Just in case, I downloaded and installed both Java runtime and JDK.
And I got the same error.
So I tried to start ModusTool box from shell
and the following errors were reported, with the GUI showing the same error.
IMHO, Update to macOS Big Sur is a Major Update,
so it is not a wonder that some (or many) applications show problems.
For me the update to Catalina was a disaster,
and so far, Big Sur behaves better than that,
still probably we need some update(s) for ModusToolbox.

Dear Rakshith-san,
I just tested modus-shell.
At least "bash" seems to be working.

P.S. I wonder if we can run MTB in Xcode?
