Question: With the PLT transceiver, would the communication still work if the power on the powerline goes off?
Answer:
Yes, this would work provided the modem and the coupling circuit are powered by a different source from the powerline that is turning off. The FSK output signal is modulated over the powerline voltage, so in case the power on the line goes off, we will observe only a PLC signal on the powerline. The Powerline simply works as a conductor in this case.
