Question: We need to use a Mini-B connector for our FX1 / FX2 / FX2LP design. This would mean crossed USB data lines or USB data lines routed in a pretty complicated way between the Shield pads of the connector. What is the preferred routing method of the high-speed USB data lines between the FX2 and the Mini-B connector?
Answer:
You should use vias to cross over the data lines and connect to Mini-B . Keep the crossover near the connector and minimize the trace area not over the ground plane. This is to reduce the amount of changes in the impedance match.
