Question: What schematic changes are required in EMCA chip to support extended power range (EPR) mode?

Answer: No schematic changes are required in EMCA chip (CCG2 / CMG1) to support EPR mode. The changes required are in the cable identity response, which is part of the firmware.

In the EZ-PD™ Configuration Utility, update the value as “Yes” for the EPR mode capable parameter under Cable VDO to support this feature for both CCG2 and CMG1 chips (see Figure 1 and Figure 2).
