    32-bit GPIF and SPI boot

I read from some posts that it is possible to enable SPI boot while still using 32-bit GPIF in the application. My understanding is that after booting from SPI flash, the firmware configures the GPIF to be 32-bit, but how about those pins used by the SPI flash? Can those pins be used for other purposes, like UART or GPIO? Thank you.

           Hi Jincog,

Yes. You can boot from SPI and then you can use GPIF II in 32-bit. Once GPIF II is configured in 32-bit mode then you cannot use the SPI hardware block in the FX3. UART will occupy the SPI's place. If you don't need UART then you configure those pins as GPIOs.
