Looking at a hex file generated by Creator 3.2 for a CY8C4247 with 128K of FLASH, I see 128 bytes of data at 0x20000 which is past the end of FLASH.

How can I find out what this data is for?

it contain some data -- cy8c4247 silicon id, flash protection bytes, etc. what is interesting -- when I tried to programm psoc4 with jlink, I had to remove that lines from .hex file. jlink programming flash via debug interface. then, I used "$4 programmer", and it required lines with silicon id, since it flashes psoc4 by dedicated process, which includes chip reset, sending silicon id, requesting ROM firmware to enter programming mode in tight timing.
