Is it necessary to provide access to the XRES pin for on-board device programming?

Or can the device be programmed using power reset as on PSoC 1 devices?

The programming specifications manual states that the XRES method is the recommended method but power sequence optionally can be used, but the technical reference manual states XRES must be used.

Has anyone got power reset programming to work? I would rather not have a redundant connector pin for XRES on the board.

If anyone else is interested, I answered this by doing some testing. Using our MPQ programmer set to power-cycle programming it programs fine without XRES. This is with the XRES pin connected via 4k7 to VDD.

Not tested with Miniprog but suspect it would also work.
