chanseng738 - you have two postings two days apart with the same request. Can BCM43362 support monitor mode? Is there something unique to your 2nd request?

Hi Shawn,
Yes it is related however, the first post is more for the particular
chipset, and the second question is a more general question for WiCED.
If you think it is the same, please delete my first post then.
Thanks
Clement

Thanks Chanseng for the clarity,
No need to delete either post, and it will be curious what the WICED team responds with.
From my understanding the radios of all WiFi devices can operate in promiscuous mode, it's just a matter of whether or not the software running higher up in the stack allows the packets through, or if it filters them out because they are not targeted for the MAC address of the receiving device.

Hi Shawn,
Yes, indeed all Wifi devices will pickup the raw packet then only analyze
if it is relevant and discard the rest. But some Wifi devices won't allow
you to see the raw packet. It is in the firmware of the Wifi devices, if
the firmware does not have an option to see the raw packet, then
practically means we can't do anything on application side.
So my question to WICED team is is their firmware support this monitoring
mode? But looking at their API now, it seems like there is no support at
the moment but later version might be supported if they plan to do so.

Hello I replied to your other post as well. Correct this is something we would have to consider in the future. I will look into this with the team to see how much effort is needed.

I have a request from a customer to build a WiFi packet sniffer and I would like to use a WICED module with which we are familiar and making other products with already.
Can you please update about availability of such an interface? Even a non official patch will do it for now and would allow us to proceed with the design.
Thanks,
-Marco G.
