It seems as thought the 6936 is no longer in production. With some research, it also seems like the 7936 is as well obsolete and not widely available for purchase. What is the current replacement for these chips? Is it the CYRF8935?

I am using the device in the same manner as this user. Interfacing with a micro controller to use with a hobby RC model.

In the hobby community, there has been much software work already done with the CYRF6936, what current chip would that software translate well into?

Both the CYRF6936 and CYRF7936 continue to be in production. Hence, the community's investment into existing software libraries will continue to be useful. The links for these devices are as follows:

Well, that is good news. Thank you for proving me wrong, I'll be buying some.

In the same line of questions, I'd still like to know what the current generation of this chip is.
