In USB3 devices, are the USB3 lines and USB2 lines completely separate ? Can a USB3 chip work in USB3 mode with only RX/TX connected and not D+/D- ? I'm asking if it's possible to do the following:

I know that for sure both devices will work in USB2-only mode just fine, but will the FX3 chip in such a connection work in USB3 mode also ? Or is there signaling on the USB2 lines, even in USB3 mode, that requires there be a direct connection ?

Hi,
Such a connection is not possible. FX3 needs a single host for both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0
