Well, I installed all the tools for my CY8CKIT-049-42xx and built the project Breathing LED. All going well until the program step. Here I get a blank pop-up when trying to select debug target. The board is plugged into the USB socket and I check in Device Manager on my Windows 10 PC and it looks like the driver is installed. How to acquire the port?

The CY8CKit-049 is not made for debugging. This is why you need a bootloader and the bootloader host to program the chip.

So I wonder why they failed to mention this. Nothing like getting off to a bad start!

Don't forget to Push the SW1 button before you plug it in to the USB port.

I was sure that it is mentioned in the description.
Way out: Get hands on a CY8CKIT-043 Prototyping Kit (very cheap). This kit includes a snap-off Kitprog interface for programming and debugging. You even might use that kitprog to program and debug your -049 module.
