Will placing the CYBLE-012011-00 module on the back of the device (and hence facing the wall) degrade wireless performance?
There will be more than 10mm of clearance from the wall.
I have looked at the radiation patterns in "AN91445 - Antenna Design and RF Layout Guidelines" but not really sure how to interpret them.
The module has an integrated trace antenna.
Could anyone provide some advice?
Thank you.

Hi,
Did you gone through our Ez-BLE module placement KBA- 97095?
Please take a look into it. http://www.cypress.com/knowledge-base-article/ez-ble-module-placement-kba97095
Thanks,
Anjana

Hi Anjana,
Yes, I have looked through KBA-97095 but it seems to cover chip antennas. Will the same apply to trace antennas?
Thank you.

Your question is not clear. Will the radiating open end of the antenna face the wall? If yes, then the device may not provide the best RF performance. Ideally, the radiation pattern of the trace antenna should be checked. The antenna could have anisotropic radiation pattern and it should be oriented in free space along the direction of maximum gain. Regarding the antenna clearance, if you have made provision for keep-out area as per the module datasheet in addition to the 10mm clearance, this should be sufficient.
