Final question in relation to this, if i add a filter, at what stage does the filter 'slot' into the circuit? Considering a signal route analog input -> amplifier -> filter -> ADC. As the filter component has no pins to connect, where can i assume it integrates into my schematic?

The filter component in PSoC5 is a two-channel digital filter, so the signal chain should be
analog input -> amplifier -> ADC -> filter
The ADC values can be transferred by writing to the filter input stage or by using DMA.

Fantastic thank you bob. So ecg acquisition based on conventional electronic stages is not comparable. (Provided minimum external circuitry is wanted) It's just amplify your signal as best as possible and then transfer to digital domain to do magic. Any real world examples that you know of for ecg?

At top of this page is a field "Enter your Keywords". A simple "ecg" will give you a lot to read for the next days... 😉
