Hi all,

We're getting our product ready to be shipped from Taiwan.  The only emitting device on the board is the BCM20737S module (product is small and similar to a "beacon" - see www.loopd.com).  I thought that product that only use the BCM20737S (or BCM20736S, for example) did NOT need any further FCC approval.

Is that correct?

If I'm correct, then we can just have the manufacturer ship our so-called "badge" to us.  But we're hearing some conflicting comments/remarks from the manufacturer.

Cypress personnel, please confirm.

Thank you!

Cheers,

Gil

The procedure for the issuing of LOA for the CYW20732/6/7 has changed.

Essentially, we have recertified the 20732/6/7S modules to have a Cypress FCC ID assigned and we now provide the LOA signed by Manager of the regulatory team,

Because the SiP module is not housed in a metal case/shield, our regulatory offering is that of a Limited Modular approval, so there is some testing still required (i.e. such as spurious emissions).

These two documents describe what's needed:

FCC Certification Flow for Broadcom module products

Broadcom BCM2073XS SiP Module Regulatory Approvals

There are quite a few threads on the topic as well.

LSR is one of our partners that offers services in this area (even if you are not using their module) if you are not already working with a regulatory house.
